Auditions for Dracula, September 9 and 11 at John M. Evans Hall.

Just in time for Halloween, ECT announces a Fall Radio Production of Dracula. 

Be part of some live Halloween entertainment — audition for Evansville Community Theatre’s fall production of “Dracula,” a radio play. Auditions are Sunday, September 9 from 1 to 3 p.m. and Tuesday, September 11 from 6 to 9 p.m. The show is based on the classic novel “Dracula” by Bram Stoker, and adapted for radio theatre by Philip Grecian.

This is a staged production of an old time radio show with actors reading from scripts, so no memorization is required. The show features actors portraying multiple roles, sound effects created on stage, and old timey radio ads written for local sponsors – all performed in front of a live audience.

There are ten vocal roles for adults – seven men and three women. Mature teens will be considered. A few might do a little singing. The characters use English (Cockney) and Transylvanian accents, so please be prepared to try accents and read from the script at auditions. No experience is needed – newcomers are encouraged to audition!

The show will also need several “sound effects artists” to ring bells, open doors, rattle chains, crank the wind machine, and more. Training is provided, so please contact Evansville Community Theatre for this fun role.

Show dates are just in time for Halloween: October 25, 26, and 27. Auditions and performances are at Emma’s table in John M. Evans Hall, 104 W. Main St. in Evansville.
